Stuff to do: Oct. 23-29

  • Support survivors.* The Compass Center is hosting its premier networking and fundraising event, Cultivating Courage, Thursday evening at the Atrium at Blue Haven. Your support at this time is crucial, and to amplify our impact, every dollar donated over the $150 entrance ticket price will be matched by a generous donor. Get your tickets here.
  • Bop with the kidz.* Kidz Bop returns to Sioux Falls this November with covers of today's hottest songs. They'll perform Nov. 2 at the Sioux Falls Arena in an all-ages show that promises to be fun for the entire family. Tickets for the show start at $24.50, and you can snag yours here.
  • Go trick or treating. There are a ton of Halloween events happening this weekend – more than I could fit here, but here's a quick run-down. Hit up McKennan Park on Friday evening, and on Saturday hit up the Big Sioux Rec Area, Spooky Seas at the Butterfly House, Spooky Science at the Pavilion, and on Sunday afternoon you can trick or treat downtown.
  • Get ready for ski season. It might be warm now, but it won't be long until there's snow on the ground. Great Bear is getting ready with their annual OctoBEARfest event this weekend. You can get discounts on season passes, plus take advantage of new season pass insurance options. There'll be a food truck Friday evening, and all kinds of fun Saturday including inflatables and chair lift rides. Get all the details here.
  • Party like the undead. The annual Zombie Walk is happening Saturday with registration running from noon to 2 p.m. at Remedy. This years' proceeds benefit the Compass Center and the Sioux Falls Roller Dollz. Learn more here.
  • Do the monster mash. Hello-Hi is getting spooky this weekend with "Hell-Hi Fidelity" Saturday night. Participate in the costume contest, sip a featured cocktail and enjoy music from DJ Sharp. Details here.
  • Find Nemo. It's a big weekend for Spotlight Theatre Company (formerly known as the Dakota Academy of Performing Arts) as they stage their first production under the new branding. Catch Finding Nemo at the Orpheum Theater Thursday through Sunday. Get tickets here.
