Your guide to Christmas shopping in the Sioux metro
This is a paid piece from the Sioux Metro Growth Alliance.
Simplified: 'Tis the season for holiday shopping, and it's not hard to find something for everyone without leaving the metro area. Here's a gift guide that'll help you spend local while crossing everyone off your shopping list.
Why it matters
- Shopping at local businesses keeps more money in the Sioux Falls-area economy.
- It's also a way to support local businesses in a way that's mutually beneficial. They feel your support, and you find gifts for the people in your life.
"Small businesses have had a tough couple of years, and this time of year they especially need your support," said Jesse Fonkert, president and CEO of the Sioux Metro Growth Alliance. "It's a win for everybody when you shop locally and keep your holiday spending in the Sioux metro economy."
Here's where to find gifts ...
For someone crafty: Find a few yards of fun fabric or a quilt kit from Always Your Design in Dell Rapids.
For someone who loves crafts but doesn't make them: Support local makers with some locally crafted wares from Knotty Gnome Variety & Salvage. They've got items ranging from bags to metalwork to earrings to, of course, cute little crafty gnomes. You can also find lots of crafty items at Stacey's Store in Tea.
For kids: Rustic Lime in Dell Rapids has graphic t-shirts for kids – including some the kids in your life can color themselves. Further south, Mayme Jane's Boutique Gifts and Accessories in Lennox has various kid-friendly items as well.
For someone who loves to grill: If you've got a grill-master in your life, chances are they're familiar with the Traeger brand. Flowers by Bob in Lennox sells the popular grills and accessories.
For someone who needs caffeine: Grab a gift card to King Bird Coffee in Brandon, or, better yet, make a date to go together, sip coffee and catch up.
For someone with a sweet tooth: Stomping Grounds in Hartford is selling chocolate covered strawberries for the holidays. Bonus points if you pair that with a coffee gift card.
For when you need a gift for an exchange game: The Treasure Chest in Garretson has you covered with puzzles, decor, clothing, toys and other various vintage items.
For someone who's into games: Average Joe's Gaming and Hobby Store in Tea has you covered. It's got everything you need for the self-described "nerdy people" in your life.
For yourself: Let's be real, holiday shopping is a lot of hard work. Treat yourself and unwind with a beer at Buffalo Ridge Brewing in Hartford.
